The good news is that the Constitution Party is now on the ballot in 29 states, including my own Tennessee, and may well get onto more state ballots. The bad news is that Michael Peroutka has zero chance of winning the Presidency. Quintessential Americans love to fancy themselves as favoring and rooting for the underdog, but they actually hate 'losers' and come to see the losing as proof the losers should have lost and deserve to be on the bottom. In that, as in many other things, quintessential Americans are but quintessential Anglo-Saxons: winning equals justice, or at least the preferable, and losing is at least akin to moral turpitude, leading to self-righteous bullying and gunpoint-instituted 'reforms' by the winners. Henry VIII won and so was 'proven' correct; the Puritans won and so were 'proven' correct; William of Orange won and so was 'proven' correct; Lincoln won and so was 'proven' correct; the myriad Yankee Liberal reform groups of the 19th and early 20th centuries won when the Supreme Court, first under FDR and then with a fury under Chief Justice Earl Warren, began overruling democratic will and tradition in their favor and so 'proved' the Yankee reform groups correct. The losers in all these conflicts likewise were 'proven' wrong and morally flawed, which soon and widely would be shifted into their being labeled EVIL.
It is the old Germanic trial by combat: whoever wins the fight is 'proven' correct and moral and just; the loser of the fight is the antithesis of the winner...
Once you understand that, you will understand how Englishmen, for example, see all slaughtering of Irish civilians and all stealing of Irish property and all laws to exterminate the Irish language as morally good, while also seeing all attempts by the Irish to free themselves from English rule as the epitome of evil. You also will understand the typical American response to the Confederacy and Southern culture: the Confederacy lost its bid for freedom to Yankee armies and so was 'proven' incorrect and immoral, which means that all of Southern culture is incorrect and immoral.
That is the reason that Yankees, and those of Southern ancestry who have become fully acculturated to Yankeedom, constantly regurgitate the refrain: 'You Rebs [or hillbillies or rednecks or crackers or white trash or Southerners: depending upon the speaker's disposition and his honesty in voicing his bigotries and prejudices] lost the war and need to just get over it and be like all Americans and stop supporting bad things.' That is the reason that to a Yankee, Lincoln's countless violations of the Constitution and the massive war made on Southern civilians by Union armies were necessary and thus good, while Lee's army that refrained from doing harm to Pennsylvanian civilians was evil.
Woe unto them that call evil good.
Quintessential Americans thus tend to back away from supporting any political party or candidate or cultural movement they know does not have a reasonable chance to win: if they support it and it loses, they too are losers and so will be deemed incorrect and immoral and fit only for the bottom. Therefore, many hundreds of thousands of basically good people who know that Peroutka is the best candidate will not vote for him, for they want to be on the side of a winner. And in America of the One Party system that pretends it is two, you always win by voting either Democrat or Republican.
Michael Perouka has not a snowball's chance in Hell of winning, but I encourage everyone to act like quintessential Southerners, and quintessential Celts, and vote for him knowing he will lose because he is right and no loss of an election, no loss of a court fight, no loss of a battle can change that fact. Men and women of honor do the right thing especially when there is no likely reward.
And there's more to it, more that is important to our future actions. Because Republicans are ruled totally by quintessential Americans who believe that might makes right, the only way to make them even begin to see that they have been wrong is to make them lose. Charley Reese has recognized that fact and called for people to vote for John Kerry. But Reese has failed to think the matter through. Because Kerry is, like Bush, another Silver Spoon Yankee Skull and Bonesman, a vote for Kerry is a vote for the One Party system that pretends to be two, the system that works to deeply bury the final vestiges of the Republic and make Middle America impotent to save any of them.
A vote for Peroutka, on the other hand, says NO in thunder to that falsehood and begins to show the Republicans that in embracing Israel-First Jewish military hawks [the vast majority of whom are moderately Liberal on most cultural and moral issues,] Affirmative Action, mass immigration from the Third World, amnesty for illegal aliens, government spending that even Bill Clinton could not top, and the 'moderate' wing of the 'gay rights' movement, they are forcing their base, the vast majority of their voters [white Christians,] to leave to work for a new party, one that eschews Empire and all its inherent perversions and instead honors the Republic, which has been dealt a series of near-mortal blows since Abraham Lincoln: the first Republican President.
So I encourage all to vote for the Constitution Party. I also encourage everyone who plans to do so to contact - email is as good as telephone - local Republican campaign headquarters and tell them that you are for Peroutka and why. Tell them that as a cultural/moral/fiscal conservative, you did not leave the Republican Party; it left you to be just like the Democrats. Tell them you are fed up with voting Republican and having Republican leaders deliver 90% of the Liberalism that Democrats would have delivered. Write letters to the editor of local newspapers saying the same thing.
